Fast cars with strong engines, big turbines in power plants, giant ships and heavy-duty cranes or construction machines come to our mind when we think about mechanical engineering. Department of Mechanical Engineering: General Mechanical Engineering (five-year programme)

With focus on general mechanical engineering students get a basic training in classic mechanical engineering such as conveyor technology, continuous-flow machines, energy and environmental engineering, manufacturing engineering and automation engineering. Workshop lessons, labs, and construction lessons complement each other and contribute to our students’ comprehensive technical knowledge. For their diploma thesis, students work in teams and in collaboration with regional/transnational companies on practically-orientated tasks.

Department of Mechanical Engineering: Automotive Engineering (five-year programme)

With focus on automotive engineering students will study the complexities of vehicles after a basic training. The structure and interaction of the single components as well as functionality of the internal-combustion engine will especially be studied. In the future the focus will lie more on modern propulsion technologies. For their diploma thesis students work in teams and in collaboration with regional/transnational companies on practically-orientated tasks.

Construction Engineering (school autonomous focus)

With good basic training, students learn the skills to develop and construct machines and vehicle components with the help of a 3D computer programme. During their diploma thesis, which is part of the matriculation and diploma examination, students will collaborate with a company and put their skills into practice.

In order to meet the industry requirements, the department of mechanical eningeering installed a construction management centre.
